In this section you will find more information about the various components of our program. Coaches successfully meeting all requirements will earn the right to obtain the Official P.A.S.S. Coach designation.

If you are a coach looking to get in the program and become a member, please look over each section thoroughly. The first step you take MUST PASS our Coach Background Screening! This is a vital step, if you do not pass a background screening you will not and can not become a member!

All of the requirements are to help ensure that our local youth are getting the best overall experience they can get and serves as a way to help parents find the right coach as well get you some positive exposure for recruiting new players.


First and foremost, you and the parents of the children you are coaching are getting the piece of mind that you are doing the very best to provide a safe, fun and positive learning environment for our local youth.

Plus You Will Also:

  • Receive a membership ID
  • Be listed in our online coaches directory
  • Receive a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy from NAYS
  • Receive our Coaches Field Assistant Manual (coming)
  • Plus other valuable resources and recognition from our program partners

Note: Unless otherwise stated, all fees are paid directly to the organization listed in the description. No fees go through the LVSF.

All online courses can be done in steps and you do not have to complete them in one visit.

The National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Sports Safety for Youth Coaches online course includes 14-sections of content is appropriate, complete, current, comprehensive and user-friendly extensively covering the most recent, expert information and best practices. The course content includes: risk management, legal issues, PPE, emergency planning, training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, recognizing sports-related illnesses and injuries, prevention and care of concussions, equipment fitting, safe playing conditions, - and more. All LVSF PASS Coach Program coaches are required to obtain and stay current in CPR, First Aid & AED training. This training may be obtained using either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association standards. LVSF provides American Red Cross certification for a low fee that can't be found anywhere else in town. However the classes are only held every so often. Every coach in our program must have successfully passed an in-depth background screening within the past two years. There are Two Options: If the coach has already received a background check from another organization such a local police department, school district or national governing body of sport the coach must provide us with: Date of Background Check Organization Who Requested the Background Name of Company who Conducted the Background Screening If LVSF is unable to obtain a copy of the result of that test that says the coach "passed", the coach must receive another background screening through us (see below)…
