Las Vegas, NV - August 5th, 2013 – Organized Sports is a great way for kids to stay healthy and fit and provides them with vital life skills but it can be expensive and for many kids, like those in foster care, they may not always get the chance to get out and experience sports related activity in a controlled environment due to family or financial issues.

While most sports camps and clinics do focus on helping youth get better in a sport they don’t always focus on providing an outlet for youth to just have fun with the sport or provide the mentoring they need. They can also be expensive leaving those underprivileged youth who can’t afford such camps without an outlet to learn vital sports fundamentals and life skills.

Brian Bartolome, Executive Director of the LVSportz Foundation said, “Many of these children aren't able to afford the fees associated with participating in camps or playing a sport. A lot of these kids end up hanging around with the wrong people, or worst, get involved with gangs, drugs or guns.”

He is hoping to change some of that with a special event his foundation is offering for free to area youth.

On Sunday August 11th, 2013 the LVSportz Foundation is teaming up with the Las Vegas 51’s, Big League Dreams and several other community organizations to present the 2013 Total Youth Baseball Experience and will offer local youth a chance to partake in an exciting, new and unique event for free.

"Sports can be very therapeutic” said Bartolome. “It can help give their lives some direction and meaning. It can really help them to focus their energy and give them a pattern of success in their life. This experience will give these kids a chance to forget about their problems even if for just a little bit and have some fun.”

The event will start out at Big League Dreams Sports Park at 11:00am where kids will get to learn vital sports fundamentals taught by top-notch local youth baseball coaches from across the valley and then have some fun with the game as they compete in some fun skills competition’s based on the fundamentals they just learned.

After the clinic portion of the day, the event moves over to Cashman Field where the kids will enjoy a tailgate lunch before receiving a special mentoring session and presentation featuring special guest speakers and some autographs from some of the 51’s players in the Cashman Field Clubhouse.

To top the day off, they will then enjoy a Las Vegas 51’s game for free courtesy of the Las Vegas 51’s and their supporters.

There are still some spots open and those interested are encouraged to visit http://lvsfbaseball.eventbrite.com to register for the event before it fills up.
