On Sunday August 11th, 2013 the LVSportz Foundation teamed up with the Las Vegas 51’s, Big League Dreams and several other community organizations to present the 2013 Total Youth Baseball Experience! The experience offered local youth a chance to partake in an exciting, new and unique event that was completely free.

The day started off at Big League Dreams where nearly 60 kids ages 8 to 16 participated in the event. Jump for Joy Foundation started the event off with a group warm-up and stretch. The kids then learned basic fundamental baseball skills such as Throwing, Catching, Fielding, Pitching, Hitting and Base Running. Joining us in instructing the clinic were coaches from Cheyenne Little League, Summerlin North Little League and Vegas Venom Baseball as well as a couple of players from Palo Verde HS and Lewis and Clark College.

After the fundamentals portion of the event the kids were broken into 4 age groups and participated in a modified Pitch, Hit & Run Skills Competition. 1st Place Winners in each group received a Certificate, Cramer Athletics Messenger Bag, Gatorade Sports Bottle, Sports Blast T-Shirt and Wristband. 2nd Place Winners recieved a Certificate, Cramer Athletics Messenger Bag, Gatorade Sports Bottle, Sports Blast Towel and Wristband. 3rd Place Winners received a Certificate, Cramer Athletic Messenger Bag, Gatorade Sports Bottle, Sports Blast Cup and Wristband.

Participants were served boxed lunch courtesy of Empowering 2 Excel and Three Square Food Bank after the skills competition and electrolyte replacement drinks were provided courtesy of Sports Blast.

After the clinic portion of the day, the event moved over to Cashman Field where the kids enjoyed some pizza provided by LVSF before receiving a high energy special presentation featuring Tiger Todd from Hero School who talked about Character Change. They were then joined by Cosmo from the Las Vegas 51's and an autograph session featuring from Robert Carson from the NY Mets/Las Vegas 51's in the Cashman Field Clubhouse.

The day was topped off with a Las Vegas 51's game that the kids enjoyed for free courtesy of the Las Vegas 51's and their supporters. The Las Vegas 51's showed the group some more love as several of the participants as well some parents took part in several fun contests between innings.

The 51's would stage a come from behind win to beat the Oklahoma City Redhawks 4-3 to make the day a huge success on all fronts!

The LVSportz Foundation would like to say a Special Thank You to the Las Vegas 51's, Big League Dreams, Hero School, Empowering 2 Excel, the Jump for Joy Foundation, Cheyenne Little League, Vegas Venom Baseball, Summerlin North Little League, All of our Volunteers and Everyone Who Came Out!

SEE YOU AT THE NEXT EVENT!
