The awards have changed a little but the basis of them have stayed the same...
The LVSportz Foundation is proud to present the Southern Nevada Youth Sports Awards! Every year the LVSportz Foundation will honor youth sports coaches and student-athletes in grades 5th through 8th for their excellence in school, sports and community involvement.
Coaches will be honored for going above and beyond what is expected of them both on and off the field.
Award certificates will be given to every individual in each category. From each sport winner, an Overall Winner will be chosen for each of the 3 main categories: Coach, Male Athlete, Female Athlete. League of the Year awards are based on open poll voting from the public.
Here's How It Works, It's simple:
You can nominate a coach or player to be considered for the award via our website. Nomination's must be complete, incomplete or nominations missing information will be skipped. Please ensure to triple-check before submitting.
When you are nominating someone please remember that the panel knows nothing about the nominee. Your goal should be to try and "sell" the nominee to the panel on why you believe they deserve the award. Your nomination should be a short story about their accomplishments on and off the field. Additional nominations should be received from other sources such as parents, players, coaches, league administrators, school staff, community members, etc....
It's All About the Details! Simply putting that they are a great player or coach is great but it won't be enough.
There is no limit for how many nominations any nominee may receive, in fact, more nominations from different sources will actually help the panel in better chosing who they should vote for. However, each individual person only may nominate one person in each category only one time. Athletes should have at least one nomination from a coach or parent and one from a teacher or school administrator.
The panel will look over all nominees and vote for a winner in each sport for each category based on select criteria noted in each category below.
Individual Sport winners will receive an awards certificate and Overall Category winners will receive a beautiful awards plaque, trophy or similar. All winners will be recognized on our site, social feeds and may include local media recognition.
Below you will find the 3 main categories of awards. Visit each category for a list of nominee's and further details on what the panel puts into consideration when chosing and what you should consider putting in your nomination.
We are aways looking for award sponsors and local business & community leaders to sit on the panel. If interested please let us know before June 1st, 2013.
Disclaimer: By submitting a nominee, you hereby acknowledge that you are aware that the nominees name and/or photo will be made public on this website and possible media outlets and that you have permission from them to do so, LVSportz Foundation or it's affiliates will not be held liable in any event. The nominee may request to have their name removed from this site or nomination at anytime by utilizing the Contact Us section on this site. If the nominee wishes to have their name removed but not the nomination, their name will be replaced with Coach or Athlete but the League/Team will not be removed. By not having their nomination removed, the nominee agrees that if they should win, their name and/or photo will appear in public... Before a nominee can be removed, the person requesting removal will have to verifiy their identity (either by ID or birth certificate), this is to ensure that it really is the nominee requesting to do so and not someone with ill intentions...
The Southern Nevada Youth Coach of the Year Award was established to recognize youth coaches from every major youth sport throughout Southern Nevada for going above and beyond what is normally expected from a coach/mentor. They are credited for both on and off the field activities.
One coach in each sport will be recognized for their overall Coaching Activities, Sportsmanship, Player Development (both on and off the field), Personal Coaching Development & Citizenship.
After one winner has been chosen from each sport, one coach from all the winners will be chosen as the Overall Youth Coach of the Year.
When you are nominating a coach please remember that the panel knows nothing about the nominee. Your goal should be to try and "sell" the nominee on why they should win. Your nomination should be a short story about the coaches accomplishments on and off the field. Additional nominations should be received from other sources such as parents, players, other coaches, league administrators, community members, etc....
Below you will find factors to consider when placing your nomination:
- Coaching Activities
- Sportsmanship

One Female and Male athlete from every sport will be chosen to receive an award for that particular sport. One Male and One Female Winner from each individual sport will then be considered for the Overall Male & Female Youth Athlete of the Year Award.

Proof of community service/involvement must also be submitted before the submission deadline. The service or involvment can have been done as an individual, with a team/school or with family members. Proof of service or involvement can be in the form of a letter from the ogranization (nominee's name must be listed in the letter) and/or pictures or video showing the nominee partcipating in the service. Any Pictures or Video may be included in the highlight video if one is submitted.
Everything stated above and on the forms must be successfully completed by the nomination deadline. Failure to do so will result in the nomination being disqualified.
When you are nominating an athlete please remember that the selection committee knows nothing about the nominee. Your goal should be to try and "sell" the nominee on why they should win. Your nomination should be a short story about the athletes accomplishments on and off the field. Additional nominations should be received from multiple sources such as coaches, school staff, community members, etc....
Below you will find factors to consider when placing your nomination and what the selection comittee considers when selecting winners:
Focus on 3 main factors for the athlete:
On the Field - How are they at their sport? Stats shouldn't be the sole factor but you should also consider things such as teamwork, leadership, respect, discipline, sportsmanship, etc...
In School - How is the athlete at school? Are they looked up to by their fellow classmates? Do they help out not only other students but teachers and staff? They don't have to be straight A students but do they really try their best? Maybe they have shown significant improvement over the past months?
In the Community - Is the athlete active in the community? Do they help others out such as those in need or the less priviliaged? Do they volunteer their time to charity or simliar?
Nominations and consideration should include (but not limited to) points from all the things above plus letters from someone in each factor group such as coach's, teachers, teammates, community/non-profit staff, etc... These letters don't have to be included in the initial nomination but should be received before the nomination deadline.
Coming Soon...
Nominations and Voting Are Now CLOSED for 2011!
We have instituted an open poll voting system to determine the best local Youth Leagues of the Year. Leagues can be nominated by anyone via the poll system. If you love your league and feel they should be voted best Youth League, don't hesitate to nominate or vote!
League Polls can be found in the Southern Nevada Youth Sports Awards menu in the left column under "League of the Year Voting" menu link. Simply Click on the link to open the Sub-Menu. Each vistor is alloted 1 vote per sports category. The system implements cookies and ip logging to prevent multiple votes (we want to be fair).
As of now, anyone can vote and propose new nominations with instant approval. However, if the system is abused we will implement an approval system before new nominee's are placed in the polls. Further abuse will lead us to implement a Member only nomination/voting system which we don't want to do, we want this to be available to everyone without having to register on our site (though we would love to have more members). In Short, make sure when you nominate you nominate to the right category and a "Real" league...
How To Nominate A League
Adding a league to a poll is very easy, underneath the already nominated leagues you will find an "Add A New Response" box. Simply input the leagues expanded name and click on propose.
