Game-Saver Program

CPR, AED Basics & Sports Safety Awareness and Prevention Training for Youth Athletes

WHY YOUR YOUNG ATHLETES SHOULD HAVE THIS TRAINING

The Setting:
It's before or after a game or practice and only a few people remain; A few teammates/friends decide to get a little more practice in on there own and head to the neigborhood park.

The Situation: One of the kids collapses and there is no coach, parent or bystander around that has been trained in CPR or in what to do should this emergency happen...

While we would all like to think that this would never happen to someone close to us, it can and does happen. We all concentrate a lot on ensuring our coaches or someone in our organization is certified in CPR and AED which is great and is something that we here at the LVSportz Foundation are striving for but there are those times when that person may not be around.

Our goal is to ensure that no matter the setting, time or place that there is a better chance of someone being around that knows what to do and how to do it.

It has been proven that children ages 10 and older are have the knowledge and are very capable enough to perform life saving skills such as Hands-Only CPR.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

COST:
FREE

TIME: 1 to 1 1/2 Hours

WHO: All Student-Athlete Ages 10 and Older; Parents; Youth Under 10 may participate for exposure but focus will be on the older children.

LOCATION: Your Practice Location wheter it is a park, sports field or indoor gym.

DETAILS:

Hands-Only CPR: We cover emergency recognition; scene safety; Check & Call; Hands-Only CPR Skills. During this section we also talk about: Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and What Causes It; What a Pre-Participation Exam is and Why it is Important and Why Being Honest on the Forms and During the Exam is Crucial to Their Well-Being & Sports Participation.

AED Basics: During this segment we will cover what an AED is, what it looks like and how it works. Since it is a law that someone be certified in how to use one, we will not train them how in how to use the AED. This is something we are working on but there is a cost associated with the certification and it requires more time to conduct the actual training.

Sports Safety Awareness: At the direction of certified athletic trainers and sports medicine specialists, in this section we cover the different types of sports safety issues such as Concussions, Overuse Injuries, Heat Illness, MRSA and More. We talk to the kids (and parents if around) about what they are, recognizing the signs and symptoms and what to do if they feel they might be suffering from one of those issues.
