2013 Pirate Fest

On Friday April 26th and Saturday April 27th the first ever Las Vegas Pirate Fest opened the doors to allow community organizations like LVSF to have booths set-up in an area dedicated for members of the local non-profit Community.

Hundreds of people attended this fun-filled pirate themed event over the weekend. The event featured actors who walked around in costumes, a pirate themed children's area filled with games, vendors of all sorts including some awesome food vendors and various groups and actors performed on stage and throughout the park.

We set up our table and stayed the whole day both days. We handed out sports safety information, concussion awareness kits and Sports Blast. We also talked to a number of parents who came our way about all sorts of things as it related to youth sports in our community and met a lot of new friends from within our local community.

EVENT DETAILS

Councilman Barlow To Welcome Ward 5 Youth To Pirate Fest 4 P.M. April 26
All Ward 5 School Children Are VIP Guests On First Day Of Festival In Lorenzi Park

Las Vegas Ward 5 City Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will greet school children from his ward as VIP guests to the Pirate Fest Las Vegas fantasy festival in Lorenzi Park at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26. Councilman Barlow and the city of Las Vegas are sponsors of this first-time event, and the councilman has arranged for all children, kindergarten through eighth grade, to have free admission to the festival April 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Lorenzi Park is located at 3333 W. Washington Ave., west of Rancho Drive.

“I encourage everyone to bring their families to Lorenzi Park April 26-28 to enjoy this Pirate Fest, with all its fun activities and entertainment,” said Councilman Barlow. “Dress in pirate, steampunk or fairy costume for even more fun!”

Pirates invade Las Vegas!! Sponsored by Councilman Ricki Barlow and the City of Las Vegas, Pirate Fest docks April 26-28 at Lorenzi Park. Pirate Fest is a fantasy festival that also includes Fairies and even Steampunk characters! It is a family-oriented, activity-based festival! Here the emphasis is in doing, not merely watching!
Pirate Fest is a three-day event, April 26-28, at the newly remodeled, historic Lorenzi Park. The daytime activities are family oriented and activity driven. There will be community groups providing information, activities and services. There will be live entertainment, music, food, vendors, strolling characters, games, activities and even a beer garden. We have cool activities for the kids, like the pirate school, where they learn to talk like a pirate, tie knots, sword fight, walk the plank, all fun stuff…. Once completed, they get an Honorary Pirate Certificate to take home! When the kids enter the park they will be given a treasure map.  They have to go to Fairy Land, Steampunk area, and the Pirates camp to complete tasks, and when they get them all checked off they turn it in and receive a Letter of Marque!  We have pirate skill games for kids and adults that have never been seen before.

The evening festivities will shift downtown to the Fremont Street Experience with a Pirate Invasion!!

Pirate Fest is happy to announce several exciting additions to the festival. Disney artist, James C. Mulligan will present his unique performance art piece featuring a unique portrait of Captain Jack. Mr. Mulligan is a renowned artist whose works are represented locally at the Chuck Jones Experience. He will be at the festival, meeting and signing autographs. There will also be an “Author’s Row” where several authors of pirate-related books will be present to meet and greet and sign their books.

Pirates…in the desert you ask? That’s right! Pirate Fest follows its own storyline – the “Legend of the Pirate of the Dry Lands.” The story explains how the pirates were cursed and ended up here, where they will “never smell or taste salt air again.” The festival marks the anniversary of The Curse. The pirates feel they can break the curse and return to the sea… but they will need YOUR help!!

Pirate Fest is being sponsored by Councilman Ricki Barlow and the city of Las Vegas. The goal here is to bring new and exciting activities to the residents and visitors of Las Vegas. Join 97.1 The Point, KOMP, Carl’s Jr., and the Fremont Street Experience for Pirate Fest! Partial proceeds benefit You Got the Power, a nonprofit foundation that works with women, youth and families who are healing from trauma, violence, fractured family dynamics and addiction.
For more information, log on to: www.PirateFestLV.com <http://www.PirateFestLV.com>. There you will find information on the festival, read the legend, learn how to dress like a pirate, sign up to be a volunteer, entertainer or vendor. Pirate Fest – a truly unique festival for a totally unique city.
